Tuesday, November 12—We left St. Catherine’s about 9:30 and drove to Starkvillee were we left Zoe at Shaggy Hound and then had lunch at Oby’s. We then drove on to Bremen, Georgia, where we spend the night in a Holiday Inn. We had tried to stay in a Hiton, but it was full and the Holiday Inn was next door. We had supper at Cracker Barrel.
Wednesday, November 13—We drove on to Myrtle Beach, and made good time until the end when we went to North Myrtle Beach instead of Myrtle Beach and wasted about an hour so that it was dark when we arrived. Marthan had made some delicious soup for supper.
Thursday, November 14—Marthan, Charles, and I took a walk on the beach. Tom slept. Ellen and Phil walked also. We went to TBonz for lunch and most of us had she crab soup which was very good, but filling. We should have stopped there, but didn’t so we had boxes to take back. Harley and I split our order so we didn’t have as much. We pieced for supper.
Friday, November 15—The weather was pretty bad—dreary and wet—so we stayed in and enjoyed talking and visiting. Harley read to us from the diary that I brought. It was a five year diary so it had interesting entries. We pieced for lunch and ordered pizza for supper.
Saturday, November 16—Ellen and Phil and Tom and I left about 10:00 for the drive home. For some reason the drive back seemed to go faster. We made it all the way to Oxford, Alabama, where we stayed at a Hampton Inn and Suites. We went about two blocks down the street to have sushi.
Sunday, November 17—We had a short distance to drive since we couldn’t pick Zoe up until 4:00 ao we took our time. We went to North Port just outside of Tuscalouse to have lunch. There is a historic district there that is somewhat interesting, but since it was Sunday only one restaurant was open. At one time Tom had a delicious grilled cheese sandwich there, so we tried them, but it wasn’t the same one. We had a pleasant lunch sitting at a table outside. We walked around a little and then drove on to Starkville where Tom wanted to get some yogurt. We took as much time there as we could, but hadn’t factored in the hour we gained on the car clock so still had too much time. We went to Shaggy Hound about 3:45 and picked her up at 4:00 when it opened. We were home a little after 6:00. Marthan sent us a picture to show how pretty the beach was after we left!
